Hooter Design – Shipping Policy

Dispatch & Delivery

If in stock, orders ship within 3–5 business days after payment. If a commissioned or bespoke item is purchased, allow two weeks for design and construction before shipping. Date of shipping will be emailed to you once dispatched.

Packaging

• Secure & safe: Every item is shipped fully sheathed (if applicable), edge‑protected, and wrapped in impact‑absorbing padding.

• Discreet exterior: Parcels are plain, unbranded, and contain no item‑related markings to reduce theft risk.

• Damage prevention: Multiple items dispatched together are individually wrapped to prevent movement during transit.

Shipping Methods & Costs

• Domestic (Australia‑wide): Flat‑rate standard shipping.

• International: Available only to countries where the ordered items are lawful to import.

• Duties & taxes: International customers are responsible for any customs charges.

Age & Legal Compliance

By purchasing from Hooter Design, you confirm you are 18+ years of age and legally permitted to buy and receive knives in your jurisdiction.

Domestic (Victoria & Interstate)

We ship legal, non‑prohibited knives only. Orders may be cancelled if a destination state restricts certain knife types.

International

Customers must ensure their local laws allow knife imports. We cannot guarantee clearance through foreign customs.

Loss or Damage

If your parcel arrives damaged, contact us within 7 days with photos. If a parcel is confirmed lost by the carrier, we will replace according to our store terms

Return & Exchange Policy

At Hooter Design, every knife is individually crafted with care. Because each piece is handmade, returns are limited — but we stand behind the quality of our workmanship.

Exchanges for Workmanship Issues

If your knife has a workmanship‑related fault, we will happily exchange it. To qualify for an exchange:

• The issue must relate to craftsmanship, not wear‑and‑tear or misuse.

• The knife must have been used and maintained according to our care instructions.

• Proof of purchase is required.

Once assessed, eligible items will be exchanged for the same model or an equivalent item of equal value.

Non‑Returnable Items

Due to the nature of handmade knives, we do not offer refunds or returns for:

• Change of mind

• Damage caused by improper care, sharpening, storage, or use

• Normal patina, edge wear, or cosmetic variations inherent to handcrafted products

Care Instructions — Hooter Design Knives and Jewellery

• Use Conditions: Designed for normal indoor and outdoor use as described in the Product Description.

• While epoxy‑coated and water‑resistant, these knives and jewellery are not intended for sustained marine or constantly wet environments.

• Patina Development: The knives are made from High‑Carbon steel, which is not Stainless (high-chromium) Steel and will naturally form a patina over time. This is normal and helps protect the blade.

• Cleaning: For knives, wipe the blade clean after use and dry it thoroughly. Do not place in a dishwasher or sink. For jewellery, apply furniture polish for improved appearance.

• Edge & Finish Maintenance: For knives, a polished finish can be restored using 2000–3000 grit wet‑and‑dry sandpaper and hand-sanded with water. Regular honing and occasional sharpening will keep the edge performing at its best.

• Leather Sheaths: Leatherwork is burnished, finished and preserved with wax and will soften naturally over time. Apply beeswax polish or other leather conditioner for conditioning and protection. Do not store a wet knife in a leather sheath.

• Warranty: In the unlikely event of a defect due to craftsmanship, Hooter Design will replace the item.
